Wait For You
03:32
|
|||
All I saw from the balcony was the lights below
All I saw from the railway station was your train go
Left your suitcase by the door
Left a number on the wall
Left your phone and left your key
Left a photograph for me
I won’t wait for you, I won’t be your fool
If you decide to call, I won’t be there for you
I won’t wait for you, I won’t be no fool
Don’t come round no more, there’s nothing here for you
All you are within my home is an empty space
All you in within my world is a nameless face
You took what’s your and took what’s mine
Took my heart and took my time
Left your hurt inside my mind
Left your scars but I’ve got pride
Do I haunt your dreams as you lie alone
Do you lie and think of me staring at the phone
Does my voice go round your head
As someone else lies in your bed
Am I in every face you see
No escape from my memory

The Captains Tale
05:58
|
|||
Come gather round boys and hear my tale
I tell you about a maiden called Scarlett Hale
With eyes so blue and skin so fair
And flaming locks of auburn hair
Her beauty was something to behold but her eyes would leave you dead and cold
I was the captain of the Zale
The greatest ship to ever sail
With a crew sturdy, strong and brave
Until one day we hit a deadly wave
For many hours we fought against the sea
My crew they battled desperately
Then as our hopes began to fade
In the mist appeared a vision of this maid
Her beauty was something to behold but her smile would leave you dead and cold
She led us past the rocks and through the storm
Until we reached the safety of the shore
Exhausted we lay sleeping on the sand
Then she woke me and took me by the hand
She said that she’d been searching far and wide
For a captain who would take her as his bride
As we kissed beneath the moonlight and the stars
I felt her hands tighten round my heart
Her beauty was something to behold but her touch would leave you dead and cold
Her kiss it was a poison in disguise
And the beauty in her eyes it turned me blind
As her touch it numbed the life within my soul
And my breath and heartbeat finally she stole
As she dragged me down beneath those crushing waves
And it’s there I lie within my watery grave (within my watery grave)
Listen boys now you’ve heard my tale
Heed this warning of Scarlett Hale
And be careful when you’re sailing out to sea
Or a ghost like me forever you will be

No One
04:08
|
|||
She remembers a time so long ago
A time way before the letters that told them to go
And fight for their King, father and son
And left her all alone with no one
The light in her eyes like her feelings don’t show
No song ever played on a radio
But the song in her heart plays on and on
As she dances all alone with no one
And as the eyes filled her eyes
As she thinks of the hundreds of lives
Brave boys young and true
Who joined with the royals and blues
Now she sits all alone in a darkened room
She still hears their voice smells their sweet perfume
And as she closes her eyes lets the darkness come
No dreams anymore for no one
And as the tears fill her eyes
As she thinks of the hundreds of lives
Brave boys young and true
Who fought for the royals and blues
Nobody came to say goodbye
Nobody sang and nobody cried
In that quiet place where the flowers live on
You will find my lonely grave for no one

Brick Lane
05:11
|
|||
Sophia walks down Brick Lane
Is that tears in her eyes? Or is it just the rain?
She remembers the laughter, she remembers the pain
So much now has changed but all the heartbreak remains
From Hanbury Street to Sandy Row
All the secrets that these streets, these streets still know
From the barrow boys of Bethnal Green
In this city of stolen hearts and broken dreams
Your heart is so intwined
With the dirt and the noise on the Northern Line
Sophia, can’t you see how you’ll always be my pearly queen?
She sits in the Ten Bells hides herself away
But all the wine and the noise only helps those memories, fade to grey
They once was a time when they all knew her name
That East End star has now faded away

Dark Descends
02:21
|
|||
Sometimes life is tough and the ones you love
Don’t answer when you call
When cruel words are thrown breaking hearts like stones
And no one is there to break your fall
When you find what you wanted was never there
And the dream that your living is a nightmare
When the dark descends I’ll be the light my friend
That guides you home again
When your plans go wrong and all hope is gone
The answers have gone astray
When you turn around is there a big black cloud
Behind you all the way
When you reach for a star that passes by
And your world seems so cold in the night sky
When the dark descends I’ll be the light my friend
That guides you home again
As your world comes crashing in (you will never be alone)
If the lights are fading dim (you will never be alone)
If you fear the world outside
I will open up your eyes
You won’t need to be alone
When the dark descends I’ll be the light my friend
That guides you home again x 2

God knows why
02:56
|
|||
Today just isn’t the same, the finger looking for someone to blame
Until it finds a direction, we’ll all be pointing in vain
He looks me straight in the eye, says “Why did so many people die?
Who was it crashed those planes in the sky? Why did they cause all this pain?”
How am I supposed to reply, there’s no logic to justify
As I hold back the tears in my eyes and say
God knows why
Today just doesn’t feel fair, smiling and laughing in the wake of despair
Life carries on for the lucky few hear but something is forever changed
He watches me innocently and says, “Why did it have to be?
Where is the good in this tragedy? Will everything work out OK?”
How am I supposed to reply, when the answers confuse and defy
As I choke back the anger inside and say
God knows why
We’ll never explain, we’ll never know why
We’ll never accept, we can’t justify,
We’ll never make sense, we’ll never find peace
We’ll never feel safe, even as we sleep
We’ll never forgive, we’ll never forget
The images in our heads
How am I supposed to reply, when the truth is much worse than a lie
Protecting that innocent mind I say
God knows why

Through a lens
04:45
|
|||
Some people live their lives, just looking through a lens
Living virtual worlds, filled with virtual friends
As they post about their lives, precious moments pass them by
In the blinking of an eye
Stop looking through a lens (start living for today)
Stop looking through a lens (don’t let life slip away)
Stop looking through a lens (start taking it all in)
Stop looking through a lens (this moment’s what we’re in)
Stop looking through a lens
Some people crave for times, a long time gone by
Chasing memories, of a former life
Rekindling flames once died, and lovers once denied
Trying to bury what’s inside
Don’t miss the laughs, don’t miss the smiles
Enjoy the ride, embrace the miles
Those sunny days and starry skies
Good morning kisses, sweet goodnights
Don’t fear what’s around the bend, don’t worry bout what’s up ahead
Dance the dance and sing the song
Tomorrow still is yet to come but today will soon be gone

Running aground
04:23
|
|||
We’re running aground x2
We’re running aground
The clouds are getting darker
The gap is getting wider
Who knows where we’re heading for
We’re running aground
The seas are getting stronger
The tide is dragging us under
Can no longer see the shore
The ship that we are travelling in can no longer bear our weight
It’s sinking fast beneath the waves of jealousy and hate
The oars that used to steer us are now lost on the ocean floor
And we’re drowning, we’re drowning
We’re drowning in the sadness of it all
We’re running aground
The sun is setting further
The darkness creeps in closer
I can feel the storm
We’re running aground
We drift in opposing directions
Sail from separate harbours
Charting a different course
We’re running aground (we’re drowning) x 10

Stay at home
04:02
|
|||
The landlord slowly shakes his head, as he shuts and bolts the door
Empty glasses, empty chairs, it’s a bustling place no more
Down the sink he pours the drink, as his business slips away
The message that he hears them say ……. Stay at Home
Children leaving school in droves, some are riding high
No more lessons, no exams, no chance to say goodbye
Some are crying tears of rage, as friendships torn apart
The message tears right through their hearts……. Stay at Home
A different way of life than most have ever known
Unprecedented times, locked inside our homes
Reminders all around to always be aware
A hidden enemy is everywhere ……..Stay at Home
A woman hears the latest news and silently she cries
A sense of fear and boding slowly filling up her mind
Home is not her safety net, when the enemy's inside
The message signals no place left to hide……. Stay at Home
A care home locked in isolation, protecting those in need
A resident is looking back on life in ‘43
He sits beside the fire and thinks he’s had it worse before
Yet the message they keep bringing to his door……. Stay at Home
A company director takes her final journey home
She closes up her laptop and switches off her phone
Sitting with her children she finally has some time
The message that she’s hearing on the line……. Stay at Home
