about

A haunting tale about the mythology of mermaids

lyrics

Come gather round boys and hear my tale
I tell you about a maiden called Scarlett Hale
With eyes so blue and skin so fair
And flaming locks of auburn hair
Her beauty was something to behold but her eyes would leave you dead and cold

I was the captain of the Zale
The greatest ship to ever sail
With a crew sturdy, strong and brave
Until one day we hit a deadly wave
For many hours we fought against the sea
My crew they battled desperately
Then as our hopes began to fade
In the mist appeared a vision of this maid
Her beauty was something to behold but her smile would leave you dead and cold

She led us past the rocks and through the storm
Until we reached the safety of the shore
Exhausted we lay sleeping on the sand
Then she woke me and took me by the hand
She said that she’d been searching far and wide
For a captain who would take her as his bride
As we kissed beneath the moonlight and the stars
I felt her hands tighten round my heart
Her beauty was something to behold but her touch would leave you dead and cold

Her kiss it was a poison in disguise
And the beauty in her eyes it turned me blind
As her touch it numbed the life within my soul
And my breath and heartbeat finally she stole
As she dragged me down beneath those crushing waves
And it’s there I lie within my watery grave (within my watery grave)

Listen boys now you’ve heard my tale
Heed this warning of Scarlett Hale
And be careful when you’re sailing out to sea
Or a ghost like me forever you will be
